With a stunning coastline and golden beaches, the Algarve is the ideal holiday destination for those wanting to escape from it all.

I spent 4 days in the Algarve and loved it. It's definitely a destination for those who are looking to relax with beautiful beaches to relax on, surf at or just take a sunset stroll along. Plus there are several museums and fortresses and castles to discover during your holidays to the Algarve.

This southern coastline of Portugal is great for solos. English is widely spoken, the people are welcoming and friendly, and there are a variety of resort towns and places to stay, all with a Mediterranean climate.

Where To Stay in The Algarve

1. Vila Vita Parc Resort & Spa

This clifftop accommodation is where I stayed in the Algarve. As well as fantastic views, a choice of bars and an infinity pool, one of the best features of this five-star hotel is the 2 Michelin-starred restaurant offering sumptuous cuisine, and there is also a wine cellar containing vintage finds.

If you’re into health and wellness, you can pamper yourself in the spa or practise yoga and meditation (there’s even aerial yoga).

Situated in an expansive 50-hectare estate, since it opened in 1992, it has quickly become the pinnacle of luxury accommodations in the area and through the years, even in spite of the introduction of newer names, it has remained unmatched and one of the best places on the Algarve to stay.

Choose from a double room, premium suite or premium suite with a terrace.

2. Conrad Algarve

This luxury accommodation is designed to mimic an 18th century Portuguese palace. While it is located on the main road, it is still a popular choice being near a shopping mall and Quinta do Lago.

The Conrad takes pride in having highly-trained staff, but if there is one thing that they are most proud of, however, it would be their spa, which is touted as one of the best in the Algarve.

There are bespoke artworks that are found all over the hotel giving it a distinct and warm character, and there is a Michelin Star restaurant onsite that serves authentic Portuguese cuisine as well as international choices.

Choose from a deluxe king or twin, a grande deluxe king or a deluxe twin with a pool view.

3. Martinhal Sagres Beach Resort

Martinhal has several hotels and resorts in Portugal. The Martinhal Sagres Beach Family Resort is a five-star resort situated in Sagres, a great location for hiking and mountain biking in the surrounding Natural Park.

Aside from the boutique-style rooms, there are also lavish villas that are fully equipped with everything you need for an exemplary stay.

The resort is huge and it comes with five swimming pools, including an outdoor swimming pool and three on-site restaurants, so you won’t go hungry. There is also a tennis court as well as surf lessons for beginners. It classes itself as a beach family resort hotel but there is no reason why you can't go there solo.

Choose from a double room or a one or two-bedroom apartment.

4. Bela Vista Hotel & Spa

This 5 star boutique hotel in Portimão is simply stunning. From the exterior to the interior, it will definitely provide you with a royal experience.

Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, the Bela Vista offers boutique accommodation in a historical building that is set over the Praia da Rocha cliff with direct access to the beach just walking distance away.

One of the best things about this adult-only hotel is the L’Occitane spa, which offers the perfect way to be relaxed and rejuvenated after a tiring day. Or you can choose to watch the sunset on the restaurant terrace after cycling back from the nearby marina.

Choose from a classic double, a superior, deluxe or comfort double with a sea view or a junior suite with a village view or sea view.

5. Casa Boa Sorte

Finally, if you're travelling with company, this penthouse apartment is located in Lakeside Village in Quinta do Lago.

The resort is huge and has all of the facilities that you will need, such as a swimming pool, tennis court, landscaped garden, golf courses, and restaurant. The apartment has a cool and airy interior, perfect for relaxing. The lounge offers a superb view of the lake. You can take a dip in a world-class beach just a few minutes from your accommodation.

The villa has three bedrooms and a minimum stay of 3 nights.
