About Santorini Hostel Caveland
Santorini Hostel Caveland is run by travellers whose concept was to bring everything we liked from our travels to one special place. The hostel is located in an old 18th century winery which was converted to a hotel in 1984. There is an assortment of fruit trees within its gardens such as citrus, vanilla and pistachio with picturesque terraces and amazing views. Previously known as the Tennis Club, it changed its name to Caveland in 2011 and offers a variety of accommodation from dorm rooms in caves to single beds and private rooms.
The in-house activities offer a great excuse to meet others with sociable barbecues and dinners or you may prefer to relax in a yoga session instead. All events and any excursions that you want to do whilst in Santorini can be booked at the reception desk. Plus there’s a vending machine for snacks and a laundry service too.
Location
We are located in Karterados, the first village you will pass when heading south from Fira town, the capital of the Santorini island. Karterados is about 5 minutes drive/25 min walk from Fira town. It is a typical Santorinian village, not really spoilt by tourism yet. As we are a former winery, we are tucked away from the crowds and surrounded by vineyards.

Rooms
Girls have the option of staying in Girls Only Caves – designed especially for girls. One cave is a 4 bedroom dorm with an en suite bathroom. The second hosts another 4 bed dorm room along with a single room. Both dorm caves have lockers, a fridge to put anything that you need to chill and of course, air-conditioning. Plus there are big mirrors – a luxury for girls and wheelchair access.
Safety
Santorini is a very safe island. We have security cameras all over the property. Moreover in the dorms and rooms every traveller has their own locker with a socket inside, and the padlock can be rented from reception. We have also mini safes at reception which can be rented per day.
Why is it solo-female friendly?
Over the years the majority of our guests are girls (about 70%), therefore we decided to have 2 girls only dorms and one single room with a shared bathroom just for girls. Our private rooms with a private bathrooms are also suitable for single travellers, in case they are looking for more privacy.
Why we love it!
It’s in Santorini for starters! As well as free continental breakfast they also have a coffee-bar where you just make a donation and book swamp.
They really cater for girls, with girls-only caves, large mirrors and a hairdryer on request. Plus where else can you stay in a former winery in one of the most beautiful places in Greece? Plus Caveland Santorini has also been awarded a 5 star hostel by Hostel Geeks.
