Maca Bana Luxury Boutique Resort isn’t your ordinary resort and being a solar powered resort, it is one of the nicest eco properties I have stayed at in the Caribbean. If you're looking for a villa  with a view on the island of Grenada, I recommend booking a stay at Maca Bana Grenada, especially if you're travelling alone. I share my review of this friendly property below. 

Maca Bana Grenada

Perched upon a hillside overlooking a spectacular coastline and Magazine Beach is Maca Bana Luxury Boutique Resort, a gem in the Spice Island of Grenada.

Maca Bana Resort consists of 7 boutique villas, each with one or two bedrooms. Each villa has been uniquely designed and has its own garden within the two acres, surrounded by lush greenery and colourful flowers. Complete with your own personal hot tub, each villa feels private and is perfect for those looking for some relaxation on the Spice isle of Grenada.

The Villas at Maca Bana Luxury Boutique Resort

I stayed in a three bedroom villa which has two floors with the main bedroom upstairs. Other solos may prefer the one bedroom villas with plenty of privacy and their own personal hot tub.

Each villa has been carefully designed and this is one of those places that I could really live in. I even had my own stream and bridge to walk over, and I loved the design of the winding staircase which opens up into a fully equipped kitchen with everything that you could possibly need including the best in German modern appliances. Even the coffee machine was made by Porsche.

My villa came complete with a huge fruit platter and a fridge full of everything I could ever need for breakfast including eggs, bread, cheese, bacon and orange juice plus their was a blender to make myself fruit smoothies whenever I wanted.

Being known as the Spice Island, there was even a collection of spices to use including the famous nutmeg, and all other condiments required for cooking including plenty of ground coffee. Inside The Villas

There was a separate living room area with the choice of two sofas to relax on to watch the flat screen television at night and catch up on the news. During the day I spent my time outside, admiring the view and soaking up some rays on the sun lounge by the hot tub.

The four poster bed was incredibly comfortable and there was great Wifi throughout the whole villa whether I was working in the bedroom or on the sundeck. Upon check in, I was given a mobile phone with reception’s number in case I needed anything. Everything was so carefully thought out and it was nice knowing that I had access to someone if I needed them.

The Bathroom

The bathroom was huge and there was also a separate toilet in the kitchen area.
With two shower heads to choose from, I could drench myself in the rain-shower or just opt for a normal one, with the complimentary soap which smelt good enough to eat. The Restaurant at Maca Bana Luxury Boutique Resort

At the foot of the resort is The Aquarium Restaurant, situated on Magazine Beach, which is one of Grenada’s premier restaurants and offers fine dining at the water’s edge.

The restaurant has been cleverly designed to be integrated with the natural rock face, and serves Caribbean food and seafood freshly caught.

Each Sunday afternoon from 3pm, the restaurant holds a famous BBQ where people come from across the island to mingle and eat and dance to the live reggae band.

Why I Love It!

• You can see the panoramic views of the coastline and the beach below.
• The complimentary fruit platter and goodies for breakfast.
• Sitting in my own private hot tub at dusk being massaged by the water jets as I admire an amazing seaview.

The Cons

There aren’t any. If you get lonely then just walk down to the restaurant on the beach front which has a bar where you can chat to the bar staff.

Friendly staff: Raeanna the manager is one of the nicest people that you will meet and organised all my tours to ensure that I had the best stay.

Location: Maca Bana is close to the airport on the South Western peak of the island and is only a car ride from the capital, St George’s which is a quaint and colourful fishing town.

Cleanliness: It was so clean that I could walk around barefoot, and I had the option of it being cleaned each day that I was there.

Security: Grenada is one of the safest islands in the Caribbean, plus all of the staff at Macabana have been there since the original date.

Good Cafes & Restaurants nearby: The Aquarium restaurant is on site or take a taxi to St George’s nearby.

What is There To Do in Grenada?

Grenada is a great Caribbean island to explore and if you're not renting a car in Grenada, I recommend taking a tour to see the best of the island. Here are my highlights and favourite places in Grenada: 

• The rum distillery powered by an old water mill.
• The nutmeg processing factory.
• The chocolate factory.
• Concord Falls.
• Grand Etang Nature Reverse.

How To Get To Maca Bana 

It is only a seven minute walk from the airport but Maca Bana arrange a transfer for you.

My Conclusion

Maca Bana is perfect for solo travellers as you can have as much or as little privacy as you wish. I would also recommend it for couples. The staff hardly bother you and if you are the type of solo who enjoys your own space, this is the place for you.

Grenada is one of the more understated islands in the Caribbean but it is also one of the most interesting with lots to see. Maca Bana was a perfect base for the island and I felt at home here. Three days just wasn’t enough. * Check rates and availability for Maca Bana Resort
