Hotel Lorena Florence is a small family run hotel. Originally run by her grandfather, then her father, Lavinia now looks after this hotel in Florence – one of the best value 2 star hotels in the city. Popular with independent travellers and backpackers, Hotel Lorena is perfect for those who are looking for an upgrade from a hostel, and want to stay in a homely, friendly accommodation.
Location
Their location is perfect for exploring the city. The area is really safe and is well lit at night with many tourists around so you won’t feel alone. It’s easy to reach places from here on foot too. You can reach Duomo de Firenze within 4 minutes on foot, Palazzo die Congressi in 8 minutes and the Uffizi Gallery in 10 minutes. Perfect for exploring!
The train station is also nearby for day trips or for when you’re ready to leave and hop on a train to pastures new.
Rooms
Hotel Lorena has 19 rooms in total. In six of the rooms you’ll find a sink, towels and complimentary toiletries to use such as soap and shampoo. Plus there’s a hairdryer too! The rooms all have character and are good value, with modern bathrooms.
If they are available you can specify one of the rooms with a view of Florence’s most famous landmark – Brunelleschi’s Duomo. There is Wifi throughout the whole property and they serve a continental breakfast until 9.30am.
Safety
Reception is on the first floor and there is a lift from there to the rest of the building. Reception is manned 24 hours so there is always someone there if you need anything. The block is safe and the front door is locked at night so guests need to ring the bell to enter.
Why is it solo female friendly?
It’s really safe, and offers comfort on a budget. Plus it’s always clean! The staff are so helpful and give you a free map to find your way around. They have air conditioning in the summer months to keep you cool and hairdryers – a luxury for us girls.
Why we love it!
It has so much character and is smack bang in the centre of one of the most beautiful cities in Italy. It’s one of the cheapest places to stay in Florence and doesn’t scrimp on its comfort or security for the price. Plus they always have promotions and special offers throughout the year to save us even more money.
