Summer is on its way, so what better time than to start planning your breakaway. With so many places to visit it can be hard to decide on where to go. To start with it’s a good idea to narrow it down by the type of holiday you are looking for. Do you want to go on a beach break? Or would you prefer to visit a city? Then narrow it down to places you haven’t visited before.
To help you with your search, below we have put together a guide on five destinations for you to consider for your summer holiday. All of these places are popular and in Europe so if you’re from the UK, they are just a short hop away.
Majorca – Spain
Number one on our list of places to consider for your summer holiday is Majorca. If you are thinking about what to do in Majorca? You won’t struggle to find things to do. You can go to the aquarium, book yourself on a boat trip, explore the city of Palma, or go on a wine tour in the old town, the possibilities are endless. The weather is lovely all year round and there are plenty of restaurants for you to dine at too.
Venice – Italy
Escape the hustle and bustle of your busy work life and escape to Venice in Italy. Relax with an Aperol spritz in one hand and your book in the other, then go and explore. The city has many wonderful sites, including the bridge of sighs, Doge's Palace and Piazza San Marco. If you get the chance you must go on a gondola along the canals and visit the Teatro La Fenice.
Just outside the city of Venice, you can take a trip to a glass-making workshop in Murano and then continue your adventure to Burano. The food in Venice is delicious and the accommodation options vary from extremely luxurious to very affordable.
Paris – France
Visit the capital of France for your summer holiday. Explore the city, taking in the wonderful views. If you are a foodie, you’ll be in heaven – their eateries range from award-winning to affordable street food. You must try their Croissants and Macaroons! Whether you are looking for a weekend away, mid-week break or a week you won’t find yourself struggling to find things to do.
If you haven’t been to Paris before, no trip is complete without visiting the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, Arc de Triomphe and Musée d'Orsay. The weather varies depending on the month you visit but in the summer it’s gorgeous.
Santorini – Greece
When it comes to the Greek islands, Santorini is arguably one of the most famous of them all and it makes for a perfect summer destination. The views are incredible and you’ll want to bring your camera wherever you go. Just picture crystal clear waters as well as the deep blue sea and panoramic views of it – some of the best views around.
If you simply want to relax, indulge in some delicious Greek food and forget about your work life, this is the place to be. It’s not the cheapest destination on the list but it's one that you should visit at least once in your lifetime.
Algarve – Portugal
Portugal is full of places you need to visit, one of the areas being the Algarve. The Algarve is known for its beautiful beaches, perfect if you like watersports. Depending on where you stay in the Algarve, you can go water skiing, kayaking, or snorkelling. It is also known for its delicious seafood and affordable shrimp. July and August are the hottest months in the Algarve but the months before and after are still pleasantly warm. It’s still a great place to visit in the winter too, you just need to hike instead of sunbathing.
