Whether it’s over canyons or along the coastline of Australia, taking a helicopter tour can sometimes be the best way to see areas which may not be accessible by land.

1. Las Vegas, USA

Take a Las Vegas helicopter tour and not only see this desert metropolis but you can also fly over Lake Mead and Hoover Dam and tour the Valley of Fire as you land in the Grand Canyon, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Seeing the lights of the Las Vegas strip at night is simply magical.

2. Kings Canyon, Australia

From the Gand Canyon in America to Kings Canyon ‘down under'. This canyon is situated in the Northern Territory of Australia and is part of the Watarrka National Park.

Although it’s not as large as the Grand Canyon, this massive gorge with its red sandstone is spectacular in its own way, especially from above. I took one of the helicopter rides here, and it was amazing to see the landscape from above.

3. The Great Ocean Road, Australia

Known as one of the best road trips in the world, driving along this picturesque route isn’t the only way to see it.

A Great Ocean Road helicopter ride operates from The Twelve Apostles – one of Australia’s top landmarks and a natural attraction along The Great Ocean Road. Not only do you see the Twelve Apostles, but the sixty-minute flight will fly you over the Bay of Islands, Loch Ard Gorge, London Bridge, Port Campbell National Park and the Shipwreck Close.

Having driven along the Great Ocean Road, I saw the point near the Twelve Apostles where the helicopters take off, and it looks as though it would be a spectacular flight.

4. Dubai, UAE

This millionaire’s playground has so much to see with sculptured land masses in the sea, such as Palm Island and The World. That’s not to mention the giant skyscrapers of the business district and the Burj Khalif, the world’s tallest building in all its shining glory.

Dubai has some serious sightseeing, and I absolutely love this Emirate and its design. A helicopter tour of Dubai is one of the best ways to see it, and I plan to take one of these helicopter rides when I return.

5. Mount Everest, Nepal

You don’t need to climb the highest mountain in the world to experience it. Taking an Everest base camp helicopter tour is an easier way to see this majestic mountain in Nepal which stands at 8848m tall.

Some tours stop at the Everest View Hotel in Syangboche, the highest situated hotel in the world, where you can spot rare wildlife as well as take amazing mountain photography.

I saw Mount Everest on a flight from Nepal to Bhutan, but taking a helicopter ride is a great but expensive option to see it.

6. Iguazu Falls, Brazil

I can’t forget a waterfall, either. Some say that Victoria Falls is the most spectacular to see from an aerial view but having seen both, I definitely think that Iguazu Falls is the most spectacular.

Take an Iguazu Falls helicopter and fly over the border between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay above the famous Three Landmarks. You may even see a rainbow too!

New York City is one of the best cities to take a helicopter ride. But if you wonder,  “Is a helicopter ride in New York City worth it?” The answer is yes. The view of its tall skyscrapers, the Statue of Liberty and Central Park are incredible.
