not until we are lost...

“Travelling solo shapes you defines you and leaves a trail of inspiration behind you. The strength is in every one of us.”

Are you ready to travel solo or looking for inspiration and confidence to go? If you care about the world and are a solo traveller (or want to be), then you’ve come to the right place. Girl about the Globe is an award-winning solo female travel blog and resource for socially conscious travellers; empowering women to travel solo and impacting the lives of vulnerable girls about the globe.

Girl about the Globe is run by Lisa Imogen Eldridge, a solo travel addict who has been to 147 countries and 115 of these solo. (read my story here).

My Vision

Girl about the Globe (GatG) aims to create 100,000 conscious travellers and to raise £100,000 to impact the lives of vulnerable girls about the globe by the year 2025. I believe that every girl should have access to shelter, education, water, love, and protection, and I aim to empower and help those who don’t. I've even started a non-profit called the Girl about the Globe Foundation to bring hope to girls around the world. (see our impact and how you can help).

I believe that as travellers, we have a duty to give back to the communities of the countries that we visit, and to empower the lives of the children that we meet.

GatG aims to:

  • To empower women to travel alone and show the personal transformation that it brings.
  • To show that solo travel is easier than you may think.
  • To promote conscious travel and reduce the impact on our planet.
  • To help local projects all over the world and support sustainability.
  • To give an unbiased view of what the world is really like and highlight local issues to raise awareness of the reality of a destination and how we can help.

How Girl about the Globe can help you

With so much travel advice out there it can be overwhelming to know how to travel solo or even where to begin. You may be seeking reassurance that you can travel alone and need some inspiration and support to do it. Maybe you're feeling fearful or anxious and looking for empowerment to take that first step.

If you’ve travelled before and are a seasoned solo you may be looking for emerging destinations, new ideas or advice on how to stay safe in more challenging countries. Maybe you have a desire to travel consciously but are unsure how to do it (or even what that really means).

What makes GatG different is that I tell you how it really is to travel alone, beyond the pretty Instagram pictures. I show you what to expect as a woman travelling alone to a destination and equip you with all the knowledge and confidence you need to go solo.

The content on this site will help you to:

  • Feel empowered and inspired to travel to new destinations.
  • Overcome any fear of travelling solo and know what to expect as a woman travelling alone.
  • Know exactly where to travel to and how to do it safely and consciously.
  • Discover solo female-friendly companies to ensure you have the best trip.
  • Know how to make a positive impact on a destination and enhance the lives of the people who live there.
